The Great Decay
The Great Decay is an exhibition by students who followed the course Lensbased practice at KIT this year. Together with instructors Yana Mikhalina and Bruce Sampson we explored different perspectives and genres of photography. We had the opportunity to experiment in the darkroom, developing film and prints. Throughout the semester we all met as a group to discuss process, results and our different approaches to working with photography as a form of expression. As the course text suggests: Working with photography today, due to its vast circulation, accessibility, and reproducibility, implies a set of critical and ethical responsibilities. This course is an exercise in finding and supporting one's voice and relationship to photographic practice (...). This exhibition attempts to display our different takes on the theme decay. What does such a process contain, that be architecturally, bodily, chemically, personally or collectively?
