AgNO3 is the title of an exhibition I visited this summer as a part of Landskrona Photo festival. The subject of the exhibition was History of Science and Photography in Sweden and one of the images that stuck in my mind was that of a man and his walking stick which. The stick was a device for meassuring growth in different sorts of trees.
The image serves as an aide memoire for me:
Remember that I have to invent my own meassurements.
Never compare myself or my work to other peoples standards but to set my own.
Meassurements and standards are fixed for the ease of comparison, but unfortunately also leads to a simplification in some fields that are less precise.
