Thursday 11/04 (afternoon, time to be confirmed) Presentation of the results of the practical course in Galleri KiT
With the background in two of cinema history's most important documents, Dziga Vertov's "Man With a Movie Camera" (1929) and Walter Ruttmann's " Berlin: Die Sinfonie der Großstadt" (1927) the course will explore ways in which the moving image is used to create "portraits" of places, and how the form of the film/video essay blends aspects of documentary, fiction and reflection in a form that is also often poetic. Other films to be screened will include Chris Marker's seminal essay film "Sans Soleil" (Sunless, 1983) and Wim Wenders' "Notebook on Cities and Clothes" (1989)
In addition to the programme of screenings/lectures, students will work collectively towards production of a Trondheim "city film", drawing upon ideas developed in the films that will be presented.
Hasan Daragmeh (former MFA student at KiT) will guide the student's production processes and provide technical instruction and help with regard to camera work, editing and post-production.
Guest speaker Inger Lise Hansen will have an artist talk and screening of several of her experimental films which are visually arresting explorations of different sites around the world.
