THE PLACE SOUND BUILDS IN PASSING

THE PLACE SOUND BUILDS IN PASSING
recent audio-visual work by Trond Lossius and Jeremy Welsh, based on field recordings made in Sogn & Fjordane, Hardanger and the Bergen region during summer & autumn 2014. This short exhibition is a presentation of work-in-progress, a testing-out of possible exhibition formats for a project that will be ongoing through 2015. Lossius and Welsh have collaborated on numerous projects since the early 2000's, including "The Living Room" which took place at Galleri KiT in 2002, and a series of large-scale installations under the collective title "Dialogue-Transition", made together with Jon Arne Mogstad as the artist group LMW (Lossius Mogstad Welsh). Trond Lossius and Jeremy Welsh were also partners in the research project Re:place at Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 2012-2013, where they also contributed to the parallel research project Topographies of The Obsolete. The material to be presented at Galleri 3,14 forms part of the project The Atmospherics (River Deep, Mountain High) in which Lossius and Welsh are working with 360 degree surround sound recordings and ultra high definition (4K) video to create works that combine soundscape and visual documentation in evocative combinations.

The weekend before the opening of this installation (Tuesday 4th. November) Trond Lossius will present a sound installation in the same space, in co-operation with Bergen Barokk.
