A/V PÅ is a course focussing upon audio-visuality within contemporary practices including video art, artists' film and multi-media installation. The course will consist of four elements over the whole academic year, beginning in October 2017 and ending in April 2018. Part of this course is also shared with the autumn course on Sound Art, in collaboration with Music Technology at the Institute of Music. The joint lecture for both courses is on WEDNESDAY 25 OCTOBER at 09.15

The first two parts during autumn semester 2017 will be two-day seminars with screenings and guest speakers. In spring 2018 there will be a further screening seminar, and then the project will conclude with an intensive practical workshop.

Part one takes place on 24 - 25 October, with two lecture/screenings by guest speaker Stephen Sarrazin, a French curator and writer working in Tokyo and Paris. During these two days there will be presentations of artists' works from the 70's to 90's, looking at the evolution of audio-visual practices within video art and experimental film. Programmes will include work by Bill Viola (image here from his video work Anthem) and Nam June Paik, as well as many others.
Lectures: Tuesday 24 October 11.00 - 12.30 and Wednesday 25 October 09.15 - 11.00

Part two of the course will take place on 21 - 22 November with guest speakers Hilde Hauan Johnsen and Maia Urstad.

The course is available to students at all levels in both BFA and MFA programmes. The guest lectures will also be open to all at the academy. Places on the final practical workshop will be limited. Registration for this will be open from January.
