Everything from the title, bio, cv, portfolios, applications, documentation represent and format the artistic work and practice. Hype-space Salon is a workshop looking into, learning from and developing the frames that support, surround and contextualize artistic practice.
This intensive module is a one week hands-on workshop, emphasizing and working directly with the different forms and formats of representation that are significant to contemporary art. In a combination of presentations, group-work and discussions, the aim is to map how artistic practice produce and re-produce context.
Context is the set of facts or circumstances that surround a situation or event. In contemporary art every artist is a context analytic and at the same time context producer – whether we like it or not.
Based on in-class assignments reflecting directly on the work and the writing of the students as well as mapping both historic and contemporary case-studies. The workshop includes guest lectures by Honza Hoeck Professor at the DJK academy in Denmark, Alex Murray Leslie and Carl Martin Faurby curator of Trondheim Kunsthal and a visit to the Kunsthal.
