In this class Märit Aronsson, artist, printmaker and publication Manager at Trondheim Kunstmuseum, will present you to her knowledge about woodcuts and bookbinding.
Märit will teach you the narrative aspects of making a leporello, and the performative aspects of books.
To begin with we will take a brief look at contemporary printmakers such as Ciara Phillips, Cyprien Gaillard, Thomas Kilpper and historical printmaking produced by Dieder Roth, Sister Corita Kent, Otto Dix, Käthe Kollwitz, Francisco Goya, and both Sovjet and capitalist propaganda, the Isotype + jokes around propaganda.
Since the printing press in a way is a propaganda machine, this will be an issue for our class to adress, we believe.
Learning outcomes: You will learn how to use traditional print making techniques for producing artist books, flyers, leaflets, postcards, prints, and more.
Learning methods: Hands on practical class, workshop, short lectures and seminar.
We wish you welcome!
17 & 18 October, 09:00-16:00h Trond Nesheim also holds an introductory class for screen printing for our class.
